Our Purpose

The purpose of Bongolo Friends is to provide financial stability and growth to Mission Hospitals in remote, impoverished, and underserved areas of Africa. Our goal is that Mission Hospitals will be financially stable until Christ returns.

Mission Hospitals like Bongolo depend on outside sources of funds. It is impossible for Mission Hospitals to provide excellence in medical care and survive on fees for service. The people they serve are far too poor to pay for their medical care.

Even in the USA and other developed countries Hospitals depend on endowments, insurance money, and government support. Even with these resources, many hospitals are in jeopardy of closing due to finances.

Mission medical providers sacrifice much. They leave family, home, friends, great prosperity, baseball games and a thousand other comforts to serve the most desperate people on earth.

As an endowment, Bongolo Friends is dedicated to guaranteeing the financial health of Mission Hospitals long into the future.

We provide funding for short term urgent needs as well as for the long term viability of Bongolo Hospitsl first and eventually many other mission hospitals.

This includes funding for growth, facility improvement, medical equipment, operations, training of African doctors and healthcare workers, disease research, medicine and much more.

We do not administer the vaccines to the least served and most vulnerable people in Africa.
But we do supply the vaccines and fund the facilities and operations.

We do not build the new surgery building.
But we do supply the finances necessary to purchase materials and hire workers.

Making an Impact

When Bongolo hospital opened in 1977, 3 out of 5 children died before the age of 5 from malaria, measles, pertussis, and polio.

Bongolo Hospital currently serves 40,000 patients each year on an annual budget of $1,300,000. That is $32.50 per patient.

We exist to finance solutions to these and many other enormous medical issues including:

  • HIV clinic
  • Tuberculosis sanitarium
  • Communicable disease research
  • Surgery
  • Maternity
  • Obstetrics
  • Nursing school
  • Residencies in surgery
  • Ophthalmology
  • Anesthesiology
  • Family Medicine
  • Pediatrics
  • Ongoing operations
  • Improvement or replacement of medical equipment
  • Laboratory expansion
  • Pharmacy
  • Imaging
  • Housing
  • Water and sewage treatment
  • and more…

By giving to Bongolo Friends, you enable Christian missionary medical personnel to minister to some of the most desperate, unseen, and underserved people on the planet. You minister to people who will never know your name or be able to thank you.

But Christ stated:
“Your Father, who sees what is done in secret will reward you.”
– Matt 6:4
