Vision

The vision of the Container Project is to provide Bongolo with the supplies they need.
To best do this, please sign up for the items you will purchase or sew so that the hospital receives all it needs.

What

Each fall, the medical staff at the Bongolo Hospital compiles a list of needed items. Some can be made, like rolled sheet bandages, sterilization wraps, etc.

We have included many large medical items that the hospital needs. Perhaps your church can underwrite the cost of these or have connections with medical personnel who can donate them or have access to them.

How

  • Read over the detailed list of needed items below or download the list.
  • Use the online sign-up website and designate your commitment, including the quantity.
  • Please Note: Some of the items on the sign-up website have a shortened description. You may need to refer back to these details when purchasing.
  • Download the shipping instructions for details on when and where to send your items.

General Depot and Lab Supplies
If possible, please send items for the same department in the same box.

General Supplies

Rolled Bandages

2500

Instructions:
Widths should be 3”, 4” and 5”. The diameter of the bandage when rolled should be 2-3”. Be sure and secure the end of the bandage with a stitch, or a torn long piece of material (not rubber bands or ribbons).

O.R./ Maternity Table Covers

100

Instructions:
Use flat cotton or cotton/polyester sheets, Twin or Full size, any solid color. Fold sheet in half so it is 48” x 66” (twin) or 48”x 81” (full). Zig-zag close to the edge around the entire doubled sheet, including the folded side. Then measure half way down (33” or 40.1”) and sew across the sheet.

Sterilization Wraps

100 of each size

Finished sizes wanted are 36” x 36”, 48 x 48” and 60“ x 60”.
Instructions:
You can make them out of gently used cotton or cotton/polyester fabric or sheets, or even old cloth tablecloths. (Don’t use flannel as it is too loose a weave).
Blue, green or white solid colors are preferred though other colors are accepted. (They can be pieced together if you don’t have enough fabric to make these sizes).
To make them, cut two layers of fabric 1 inch larger than the finished size. Pin and sew around all 4 sides using ½ inch seam, leaving an opening for turning. Turn right-side out, press, then topstitch around the entire square. Finally, sew a diagonal line from corner to corner, creating an X. – 36 x 36 – need 100, 48 x 48 – need 100, 60 x 60 – need 20
